Job Summary:
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for a Time Computation Specialist for sentence calculation methodologies and processes. This position also prepares declarations and affidavits for the Arizona Attorney General. Apply now!
Job Duties:
- Issues final release authorizations to units and agencies holding ADCRR inmates, recognizing that no inmate can be released from ADCRR custody/hold unless authorized by appropriate ADCRR personnel
- May be responsible for the oversight & management of the Concurrent/Consecutive (CC/CS) caseload, act as a Liaison for the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency and for the Superior Courts in the State of Arizona and their associated County Attorneys, and Clerks of the Court
- Writes declarations and affidavits
- Prepares legal memos to request clarification on court documents (sentencing orders, minute entries, nun pro tuncs, ect.)
- Responsible for a wide variety of complex time computation functions and administrative tasks including generation of professional correspondences and reports
- Receives, tracks and responds to inquiries
- Prepares affidavits and other professional written correspondence
- Answers inquiries from judges, other law enforcement agencies, jurisdictions, inmate family member and inmates
- Ensures information provided is accurate and eligible to be released to the requester
- Prepares declarations and affidavits for the Arizona Attorney General, which includes testifying in open court regarding sentence structures and ADCRR Time Computation policy
- Reviews and analyzes offender records for accuracy of time computations, recalculations and release dates
- Attends unit staff meetings
- Trains and assists in the development of and execution of training of Sentence Calculation staff, other ADCRR staff, as well as the training of other law enforcement agencies, court, probation, and county attorney personnel
- In the absence of the Time Computation Administrator, Sentence calculation Administrator, and Time Computation Quality Assurance Administrator this position will act as point of contact for the unit
- Acts as a lead in special projects and provide occasional direction of guidance to other staff within the Time Computation Unit and/or Offender Information Units
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
- Arizona revised Statutes, Federal and State Laws, agency rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to inmate releases
- Methods of releases, classifications and time computations, techniques and program
- Extensive knowledge on current, historical law pertaining to sentence structures, court orders to ensure accurate and timely releases from ADCRR custody
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Adult Information Management System (AIMS)
- Types of inmate releases
- Time computation procedures

- English including proper grammar, spelling and punctuation

Selective Preference(s):
- Two years of experience as a Senior-level technician or equivalent experience.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
Requires attending a paid Time Computation Certification training program to learn the calculation terminology, methodology and techniques to accurately calculate applicable release eligibility dates. Applicants must achieve a passing grade of at least 85% or higher on the Final Exam for retention in the position.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:
Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
