Is Rihanna Going to the Met Gala This Year? Here's What To Expect (2025)

When it comes to her Met Gala attendance, Rihanna loves to keep us guessing, but we officially know whether she plans on going to this year’s May 5 Met Gala.

Over the years, fans have become accustomed to Rihanna picking and choosing when to attend the Met Gala, and when she does show up, she’s often the very last celebrity to hit the red carpet. From her iconic yellow robe that took over the Met steps in 2015 to her and A$AP Rocky‘s cozy 2021 blanket looks, Rihanna has delivered some incredible Met Gala looks. And, after she skipped the 2024 event, we need another one.

Is Rihanna Going to the Met Gala This Year?

Yes, Rihanna confirmed that she will be attending the 2025 Met Gala. The singer will be accompanying her longtime boyfriendA$AP Rocky, who is co-chairing the fashionable event.

“He didn’t tell me anything,” she told Entertainment Tonight back in October when asked about what fans can expect from their looks. “All we have planned is to be there.”

“I’m not worried about him. I’m worried about what I’m gonna do,” she said, adding that Rocky is always happy to give fashion advice. “I never ask him for help, but he’s always willing to help.”

Rihanna’s last Met Gala appearance was in 2023, where she showed off her pregnancy bump before welcoming her second son, Riot, later that year. Rihanna and Rocky previously made their red carpet debut at the 2021 Met Gala before their first son, RZA, was born the following year.

This year, Rocky will join fellow 2025 Met Gala co-chairsColman Domingo, F1 driverLewis Hamilton,Pharrell WilliamsandAnna Wintour, alongside honorary chairLeBron James. The theme of this year’s Met Gala will honor the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition,“Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The dress code is “Tailored for You.”

PerVogue, the exhibit draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 bookSlaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identityand will“feature garments, paintings, photographs, and more — all exploring the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th century through present day.”

In an October interview with Access Hollywood, Rihanna said that the 2025 Met Gala theme “is probably one of my favorite themes of all of them.” She added, “I’ve had tons of incredible themes with the Met ball that I enjoy but this one, it made me respect it so much more.”

“It’s also a celebration of history and it’s just bringing it to the forefront on a platform where we’ve been kind of hidden and it’s just accepting it, like yeah! We got this!” she said. “We’ve been doing this and now I’m excited to see Anna Wintour put that on the forefront, so much respect, I can’t wait to be there. I’m not going to miss this one.”

Rihanna will solidify her Met Gala veteran status this year, which marks her 11th time attending. She made her debut in 2007 wearing a whiteGeorges Chakra halter gown. Her most beloved look to date may be her 2018 Met Gala look when she wore a papal-inspired Maison Margiela look for the “Heavenly Bodies” theme.
